On the 27th and 28th November 2008 in Kharkiv (Ukraine) was held the 1st Open Ukrainian Taekwon-do Tournament.

583 competitors from 34 clubs took part in this Championship. The clubs were from Kiev, Kiev Region, Kharkiv, Krim, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Lviv, Rivne, Poltava, Mykolaiv. Also our friends from Russia, Moldova and Byelorussia came to Kharkiv to participate in the Ukrainian Open.

The team sparring was won by the club from Ivano-Frankivsk. They beat the team from Crimea in the final. The third places went to teams from Moldova and Rivne.

Following clubs took first three places in the general school classification:
         1st place – Kharkiv
         2nd place – Crimea
         3rd place – Moldova

The TV coverage from the competition was broadcasted by five different televisions (two of them within the nationwide range).

The Championships were on very high level. Individual categories were very good filled also by many prominent competitors like: Dimitriy Cherkasov (Russia), Katya Solovey, Igor Maksimienko or Andriy Pasichnik (Ukraine).
