International competition in Taekwon-do ITF under the name Smolenice Open was held on Saturday 25th of October 2008 in City Sport Hall Družba in Trnava.

70 competitors from 5 sport clubs from all over the Slovakia, registered in Slovak Union of TKD-ITF took part on it. The competition was held in 3 disciplines: pattern, sparring and special techniques.

The most successful club of the 4th Smolenice Open – ŠK Ge-Bek Prešov finally got Smolenice Mayor Cup. Second place belonged to ŠK Drako Smolenice and third to ŠK HONGRYONG Sereď.

Smlenice Open is usually the preparation to the national competition, where many competitors from Slovakia and from abroad can compare their abilities. We regret that competitors from Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic cancelled their participation.

The continuation of the competition was very good due to competing in three rings.

The executive board of Slovak Union of TKD – ITF would like to thank to everybody who contributed somehow to the competition, especially we would like to thank to Mr. Zárecký, the Mayor of Smolenice, to Mr. Holkovič, the president of ŠK Drako Smolenice, to Mr. Ján Goč, the president of Slovak Union of TKD – ITF and all the audience that came to support the competition.
