On Saturday 27th September 2008 saw the official name change from Ellis Taekwon Do Association to England Taekwon Do Association. With the new name came a new website (www.england-tkd.co.uk) and new logo and said logo took centre stage as a large banner was on display during the September seminar and squad session.
There were over 100 people in attendance including over 30 black belts, of the black belts a number of them were England team members who had won medals at European and World Championships.
The coaching staff for the day included ITF England coach Tom Denis VI degree, ITF England Technical Director Nick Symonds V degree and Former ITF New Zealand Technical Committee member Graham Patterson V degree.
Lisa Dennis V degree hosted the training seminar and black belt grading.
The day started with all the students being taken through a brisk warm up and stretch. After this the group was split in to two, those going to the World Cup and those who were not.
The students who were training for the World Cup were taken through a range of sparring drills, starting with some interval training, progressing on to numerous kicking drills and finishing with a few rounds of 3 minute sparring bouts.
The other group went through fundamental movements, focusing mainly on kicking and advancing on to jumping kicks, all of which were ably demonstrated by Mr Symonds and Mr Patterson.
Following the seminar a talk was held by personal trainer Chris Devin who provided us with a lot of information on sports conditioning and nutrition. After which the instructors carefully selected what they wanted to eat for lunch and checked their hydration levels.
In the afternoon a black belt grading took place, the panel consisted of Mr Denis, Mr Symonds and Mr Patterson. There was a high standard from the candidates and blow is a list of the successful students:

Many thanks to Lisa Dennis for hosting as well as Miss Julie Fagg ETA Secretary and Yvonne Wilcox for the registration and processing of the paper work which made the day a success.
To mark the celebration it was arranged for the ETA instructors to stay over in the local Premier Inn hotel to have a general get together and to socialise before recommencing their training on Sunday morning with a few hours of patterns practice.
We'd also like to congratulate ETA members Mr Graham Patterson and Miss Suzanne Main on their recent engagement.
