2008 Docklands Summer Camp

This year brought a change to the yearly fixture of Docklands Summer Camp. There was only going to be 2 full days of training, but Master Jerzy Jedut VII degree was going to travel to ETA instructors and take sessions in their dojangs.

Master Jedut, after a seminar in Newcastle arrived in London on Sunday August 3rd and eventually his students Monika Kosior and Bartosz Mitura arrived on Monday August 4th.

Mrs Lisa Dennis and Earl Mcknight took up the chance of having one of the most successful Tae Kwon-Do Instructors visit their establishments and the students were to be the winners as once again Master Jedut took the chance to impart his knowledge and passion upon those learning under him. The session for Mr Mcknight took place in Bedford on a Tuesday evening and the one for Mrs Dennis took place on Thursday Evening. Both sessions were well represented.

Wednesday gave the group a chance to view sites of London and in the evening Master Jedut and his entourage went and watched WE WILL ROCK YOU a musical that for some reason Master Jedut is extremely passionate about and has he has seen it about 4 times.

On Friday another tradition was maintained when a visit to Thorpe Park, a well-known theme park gave the group a chance to experience a different sorts of rides. Master Jedut enjoys the fast rides and somehow managed to get onto a ride called STEALTH (acceleration 0-80 miles per hour in 1.8 seconds) 3 times when the queuing time was about 1-2 hours per ride.

The Saturday saw the first of the 2-day event and the first 3.5-hour session was for Black belts. In attendance were many current and former members of the ITF England National team among them Nicholas Symonds, Graham Patterson, Lisa Dennis, Suzanne Main, Cassandra Bednall, Eryk Kopan, Stuart Arroyo, Regan Lawrance, Piotr Capaja and William Proctor.

Master Jedut took them through strenuous, but fun activities as a warm up exercises that led to kicks being performed on kick shields with power. Sparring movement drills and then sparring drills followed this. At the completion of the session Master Jedut had a short break then continued with another session for the colour belts, which was almost the same formulae as before but with more emphasis on technical content.

The Sunday session was made open to red belts with the understanding that they must also attend their own session; one person took up this offer.

Marcela Capaja was to do over 7 hours training. Sunday’s session enabled the participants to free spar against Monika and Bartosz to put into play some of the tips they had hopefully learnt.

Once again at the end of the Camp, Master Jedut was given a gift from Docklands TKD School and was presented by the manufacturer Mr Janitzio Moreno, who has made the gifts for the last 4 years. Docklands would like to thank Canary Wharf Group Plc for their continued support and also Master Jedut and his students for taking time out of his busy schedule to impart his knowledge to eager minds.

Roll on Summer Camp 2009.
