Seminar with Master Ung Kim Lan

Master Ung Kim Lan, 8th degree and a Member of the ITF Technical commitee, held a two day seminar on the 28th and 29th of June in Tampere, Finland. This was the first time Master Lan was conducting a seminar in Finland. 70 participants from 10 different clubs around Finland took part and gathered to learn from Master Lan. The participants were from yellow belt to 6th Dan. The seminar concluded six trainings and in some of them people were divided in two groups. The other group was conducted by Sabumnim Andrew Niven, 5th Dan who was assisting Master Lan during the seminar.

Contents of the seminar were sparring, self defence, and patterns. There was also the possibility to train power breaking and special techniques with Sabumnim Andrew Niven. Master Lan’s main focus in sparring was on strategy so most of the many different exercises concentrated on that. In patterns the focus was on naturalness of the movements. Master Lan also paid a lot of attention in teaching the “Do".

On saturday evening Master Lan and Sabumnim Niven were invited for dinner to the restaurant at Näsinneula, a 168m high observation tower at the harbour close to the city center. With them were the representatives of the organizing club, Tampere Taekwon-Do club and the representatives of ITF Taekwon-Do Finland.
