Andrzej Undro – Organizer of Euros 2008

The co-organizer of the European Championships 2008 was Mr. Andrzej Undro – IV Degree, the president and head coach in Wroclaw Taekwon-do Academy. He assumed the function of the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee.

Mr. Undro is one of the most creative instructors in Polish Taekwon-do. We could observe a sample of his art skills during last European Championships held from 16th to 18th May in Wrocław (Poland). The graphic settings were his idea, starting from the logos and symbolic imaginary of championships through the T-shirts designs, key chains, finishing with the designs of medals.

Mr. Undro, 46 years old, is married with Izabela Lewicka. They have two sons Bartek (1991) and Grzegorz (1994). Mr. Undro received a master’s degree in recreation in the Tourism and Recreation Profile of University School of Physical Education in Wrocław.

He started to practice Taekwon-do in 1979. 1989 he spent a year to perfect his skills in Park Joong Su Institute in Toronto (Kanada). He also conducted there classes for beginners. He participated three times in the seminars conducted by the creator of Taekwon-do – General Choi Hong Hi.

In 1991 he became a Taekwon-do instructor and he set up the Youth Taekwon-do Academy in which he started to teach. In 1996 he transformed it into the Wroclaw Taekwon-do Academy where he has been conducted classes until today. His school is the most numerous in Poland.

He is an author and a contractor of many unconventional appliances for Taekwon-do training as well as an author of a system of numerous innovative games and motion plays in Taekwon-do. Those games are used to educate children and youth on different level of advance in Taekwon-do training.

 

In the past he has organized many spectacular events, among other things:

Mr. Undro invented the first and probably one and only card game for children and youth called ‘Taekwondix’ (2003) – which became a specific way of motivation for practicing youngsters. There are three thematic editions. The first one is about patterns, the second concerns positions and the third one contains Taekwon-do terminology.

In 2007 he created the first board game on the world about Taekwon-do called “Taekwondix II – European Taekwon-do Championships.” He addressed it to all people who practice Taekwon-do and are board games enthusiasts.

Andrzej Undro is a person of wide range of interests. He is fond of sports, marital art, skiing, scuba diving, music, dancing, art, photography, film, board games and chess.

His skills and abilities made European Championships successful. We would like to express our words of thanks and congratulation for organization of such great sport event.
