When the tournament starts there were 272 competitors from 5 different country’s! Organizers Mr. Henny van Zon and Master Willy van de Mortel were proud on this. This was the maximum in this hall, for that reason the competition on the 8th of June 2008 “Taekwon-Do Champions Trophy” will be in the city centre of Helmond in a big sport accommodation.
The 2nd Open Brabant fell’s under the umbrella from Promat, witch will organise around 8 tournaments this year in the Netherlands.
Competitors from Belgium, Ireland, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands were present.
For the first time in the Netherlands there were used a electronic scoring system. This with the help of Master Coos van de Heuvel chairman of the AETF Umpire & Tournament Committee he was in charge to run and control this.
There were competitors from National, European and World level present at this competition. Also the present World Champion Jamil Chami -71 kg was there.
Good matches in Tuls with great competition between competitors from Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands.
In sparring Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands fought for the titels. In -63 kg was the final a German one with a 3rd place for the local Roy van de Donk. Current World Champion -71 kg , Jamil Chami won also this title against a German competitor after a exiting match. In the category men -80 kg was Hendry Bloks the men to beat, but it was for his opponents to difficult to close the distance what Hendry create with his tall legs! The bronze medallist from Quebec +80 kg Tim Kool was the strongest in this division.
All with all a very high level at this competition.
The tournament were starting after the opening at 10.00 in the morning. With using the electronic system the tournament runs smoothly and the last price awarding was at 16.00 hour in the afternoon.
