On the 30th September 2007, members of the ETA congregated at The Royal Masonic Girls’ School in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, for the second seminar of the year. This seminar included the different aspects of sparring, including a 30 minute session with –63kg 2007 World Sparring Champion, Matt Cadle II degree. The participants were also drilled in patterns and technical movements.
The seminar participants were divided into three groups and each group was instructed by a member of the Technical Committee of the ETA. Master Ellis VIII degree, ITF England and ETA President, instructed the III degree and above group; Mr Nicholas Symonds V degree, ITF England Technical Director, instructed the I and II degrees; and Mr Thomas Denis VI degree, ITF England National Coach, instructed the colour belts.
This event is run twice yearly and it is going from strength to strength. ETA had the pleasure in having in attendance Mr Graham Patterson V degree (2003 IVth Pattern Champion) and former New Zealand National Coach and Miss Suzanne Main III degree, a member of the New Zealand Ladies Team. Also in attendance were Mrs Lisa Dennis (2007 European Power Champion) and Holly Bagshaw (2007 European and 2007 World Junior Team Power Champion). There were also members of the ITF England team in attendance.
At the end of the seminar there was the opportunity for students eligible for promotions to be tested.
