The I.N.T.A. (Irish National TaeKwon-Do Association) held its regional umpires seminars recently. The seminars which were conducted in Cork and Naas were a huge success with 18 participants who went through a rigorous schedule including procedures on judging Patterns, Sparring, Power tests and of course Special techniques in accordance with A.E.T.F tournament rules.
In Naas the organisers used the teams from the Tri-Club Tournament hosted by Naas Taekwon-Do Club, while in Cork the organisers used the Sunday morning class who are training for the black belt grading to assist in the sessions.
This gave all the participants the opportunity to play a physical role as both corner referee and centre referee in a tournament scenario.
Every participant had input into the sessions and had a number of questions to put to the organisers which were answered in question and answer sessions which followed each module.
After the seminars all participants underwent a written examination which was compiled by Master Brendan O’Toole, Master Val Douglas and Mister Gerry Martin of the I.N.T.A. and thankfully all were successful.
While the regional umpire seminars were conducted and organised locally, each and every aspect was compiled and monitored by the I.N.T.A. in Dublin and regular updates and reports were assessed.
The Cork umpire course was organised and conducted by Mr. Paul Delea and Mr. Ken Leahy while the Naas seminar was conducted by Mr. David Condon, Mr Niall Jones and Mr. Nigel Stobie.
The I.N.T.A. would like to take the opportunity to congratulate everyone who participated and organised the very successful seminars.
