Polish Cup 2007 in Lublin

   

From 10th to 11th March 2007 in Lublin (Poland) was held the Polish Taekwon-do Cup for Juniors and Seniors which was qualification tournament for the Senior Polish Championships and for the Junior and Senior Polish National Taekwon-do Team.

147 seniors from 36 clubs and 141 juniors from 34 for clubs have participated in this event.

Mr. Tadeusz Loboda the President of Polish Taekwon-do Association and Lublin Taekwon-do Sport Club was the main organiser of the tournament. He was really content to organise and promote Taekwon-do in Lublin, the biggest Polish town east from Vistula River.

Two days competition was on very high level. The competitors showed their great ambition and sports skills. On Saturday all patterns categories, junior special techniques and every senior sparring division were played.

It was decided few years ago that the qualifier of the Polish Cup and the Polish Championship will be closed to the audience and the public will have opportunity to watch only the final show. Exactly at 7pm on Saturday evening started the final gala. The first point of the show was the final in the category 4th -6th Black Belt Degree pattern. Mr. Jaroslaw Suska – V Dan showed again his domination and won this category. From ten sparring divisions eight were selected. All fights were very dynamic, spectacular and really emotional. The most interesting one was the final in the category up to 80 kg male. Daniel Dziala, twice World Champion, beat Slawomir Zarejko, 2006 Polish Champion in this weight category that came back for the tournaments after more then 8 years break. During the finals the spectators could also enjoy the performance of the professional dance group SPIN and the body builder’s. The Polish Cup was well-publicised in the newspapers, Internet, radio and Polish regional television. The final gala was led by famous radio presenter Mr. Rozwalka.

   
   

On Sunday all junior categories were played. Seniors participated also in the special techniques competition.

After this tournament 22 competitors (female and male) received appointment to be part of the Polish National Taekwon-do Team for the coming Viking Cup 2007 to be held at the end of March in Skovde (Sweden). Only after the Viking Cup tournament the National Team Coaches will decide who will go for the Euros 2007 in Slovakia.
