Master Bos in Ireland


Master Wim Bos VIII Dan visited Dublin , Ireland from 16th -18th June 2006 to conduct an Umpire Course and Technical Seminars for ITF members in Ireland . On Friday evening Master Bos led 2 training sessions in Rivervalley Taekwon-Do Club in Swords, Co. Dublin which was attended by 105 students, 60 juniors and 45 seniors.

On Saturday and Sunday there was in total 11 hours training, 6.5 hours Umpire Course and 4.5 hours Technical Seminars. The Umpire Course gave comprehensive information on the interpretation and application of ITF competition rules. The technical seminars covered application of techniques, step sparring and pre-arranged free sparring.

On Saturday evening there was a banquet dinner with Master Bos as guest of honour attended by 30 senior students from all over Ireland.

VIP participants during the weekend included; Mr. Kenneth Wheatley VI Dan, President of Irish Taekwon-Do Association, Mr. Mark Hutton VI Dan, Technical Advisor & External Examiner for Irish Taekwon-Do Association.

This was the first major event organised since the merger of the ANAs in Ireland and was a great opportunity for people from all over Ireland to train together and build relationships for the future.

In gratitude Master Bos was presented with a bronze statue of Michael Collins, a great Irish leader who was central in securing Irish independence for the first time in 750 years.

The event was attended by photographers and reporters from the local media and will receive press coverage in Dublin this week.
