The 4th Slovakian Open was held last Sunday, the 12th March, in Presov, East Slovakia. Over 17 clubs attended the event, from countries including Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Latvia and Ukraine.
Approximately 300 junior and senior competitors took part in the one-day tournament, in patterns, sparring and special technique. Held in the Sports Hall of Presov University, the venue was well designed for the event, although a little crowded due to the popularity of the tournament. The largest categories were the younger divisions, which made this a good event for junior competitors.
The Grand Finals were held in the evening, with entertainment from a male hip hop dance troupe and a demonstration from a male martial arts performer to music. The crowd enjoyed the junior female -60kg sparring, where the KS Dragon Janow, Poland, won Best Club with 43 points in total. MKS Lewart Lubartów were a close second with 39 points.
The event was very well organized by Martina Soltisova Semesiova, President of Slovak Union of Taekwon-do ITF, with a high standard of competition, an entertaining evening and everything running to schedule.
Below the letter from Mrs. Martina Soltisova - Semesiova, President of ITF Slovakia.
