Positive Developments in Ireland

On Sunday 5th of March a meeting was held between the executive committees of the two Irish AA members, the ITA and AITA to discuss the possibility of merging the two groups. During the meeting issues regarding the different structures, policies and methods of operation were resolved in a friendly and mutually agreeable fashion, with the result that the two associations have agreed to merge at the earliest possible time.

This is subject to the approval of the general membership at an extraordinary general meeting.

Currently the associations are creating a new constitution which includes all the changes deemed necessary during the meeting. A second meeting of the executive committees is scheduled for mid April. Until the merger is completed the associations will continue to support all tournaments seminars and courses offered by the other and will begin work on merging the examiners panels for purposes of standardizing the syllabus for Kup and Dan gradings.

We are looking forward to this exciting new period of cooperation and hope to be able to bring further good news in the near future.

Yours in Taekwon-Do
Adrian Byrne
(On behalf of ITA and AITA)
