During the weekend of 18th – 20th November 2005 the Irish National Taekwon-Do Association (INTA) organised an advanced training camp conducted by Sabum Tomaz Barada, three times ITF World Champion -63kg.
The three day camp which was held in Dublin concentrated on advanced ITF sparring technique through a broad variety of drills and exercises which translate directly to sparring competition. The camp also provided an excellent environment for exchanging ideas and experience between the participants.
The participants included some international competitors from; Germany, Scotland, Belgium, England and Ireland including; Hosnya Karim (GER), Maria Virginia Dionisi, Patrick Crevecoeur & Pascal Raeijmaekers (BEL); Mark McGeachie (SCO), Matt Cadle (ENG) plus members of Irish National Team; Kevin Hannigan, Cormac Llewellyn, Jonathan Dargan, Donal O’Donoghue, Ciaran Ryan, Lenka Marsikova and Nicola McCutcheon.
The camp consisted of five training sessions of two hours each, covering; sparring strategy, multiple kicking and punching combinations, distance control, creating and maximising scoring opportunities and free-sparring.
On Saturday afternoon there was a separate training session especially for colour grade students and juniors, which was so much fun and finished with a sparring match between all juniors against Sabum Barada at the same time!>
Sabum Barada conducted the entire camp with great enthusiasm and very precise attention to detail when explaining sparring methodology and correcting specific techniques.
The camp was a most enjoyable weekend and special thanks must go to Sabum Tomaz Barada and course organiser Sabum Terry Donnelly.
