For the second time Lüneburg (60 km south of Hamburg) was hosting the North German championship. The first time, two years ago not very many Taekwon-Doin took interest in this championship, because it was a rather new event on the ITF-D annual schedule.
This year over 130 starters (A-, B- Junior and Senoir) participated in the tournament. Taekwon-Doin from Syria and India wanted to join in but failed because of visa problems. So a Taekwon-Doin from Poland was the one who had to travel the longest way. The new (for Germany) tournament system "Everybody versus everybody of a group" was very well accepted by all participants but also caused the tournament to last two hours longer as planned.
This was due to lack of inspierience with the new system, but after sorting out what caused the delays we are very confident to run this event dead on schedule next year. We hope that ITF Taekwon-Do will benefit from this event and that interest was raised among the several hundered spectators which where watching this tournament. We strongly hope that they will find their way to the ITF Taekwon-Do teaching clubs in Northern Germany. We also hope that all the participants will find their to Lüneburg again next year for the 5th North German Championship and hopefully bring along their friends to make this tournament an even more important event of ITf Taekwon-Do in Germany.
Hope to meet you all in Lüneburg in 2006.
