Masters Gave Seminar In Finland

Nearly 110 participants from Norway, Sweden and Finland took last weekend (28.-30.10) part to the International Taekwon-Do Seminar in Ylöjärvi, Finland. Seminar was attended by almost 40 black belts including Master Per Andresen, 7th degree from Norway.

Trainings were conducted by Grand Master Van Binh, 9th degree, Chairman of the Masters Promotion Committee and Master Trân Triêu Quân, 8th degree, International Taekwon-Do Federation President. Masters were accompanied by Mr. Kurt Ottesen, 5th degree who presented also interesting ideas about warming up and assisted with corrections.

  

Visit began on Thursday, Oct. 27 with a meeting with the last World Championships medalists and Finnish Sports Federation (SLU) authorities, where current World Champions: Ismo Mäkinen and Saara Koivisto were given small awards for their outstanding achievement. During the meeting ITF President had short discussion concerning overall sport situation in Finland and Taekwon-Do future in Finland and in the world. Master Tran expressed his appreciation for the invitation and congratulated medalists and whole Finnish team results and emphasized strong position of Finland in the ITF. At the end of the meeting Mr. Jukka Pekkala, Secretary General of SLU presented Master Tran with small gift as a memory from visit to Finland.

  

Seminar started on Friday. 12 hours of training covered updates to the ITF system, details of theory of power, fundamental exercises, physical preparation, stretching, self-defense, internal energy and conference about teaching the Do and Taekwon-Do tenets. Masters run very interesting and informative sessions, demonstrating, explaining and answering to every question. Participants were impressed by thorough knowledge, approachable attitude and amazing physical abilities especially of Grand Master Van Binh.

  

On Saturday, Masters had dinner with Finnish ITF Taekwon-Do Federation (SITF) instructors. In nice atmosphere everybody had chance to ask questions, exchange opinions and experience concerning Taekwon-Do and ITF. Masters were gladly answering all the questions and telling stories from Taekwon-Do history about General Choi Hong Hi and ITF future.

After the seminar Masters shortly visited Helsinki and left Finland on Monday morning.

We look forward to the next opportunity to learn from the very source of Taekwon-Do.
