ITF Tournament & Umpire Course

October 1st-2nd 2005, ITF-Belgium organized a seminar with Sabum Jerzy Jedut (Poland). Assisted by Milosz Moskaluk, World Champion 2001, Sabum Jedut conducted 12 hours of classes.

There were 104 participants: 31 black belts (with also a Master 7°degree Master Tapilatu from Holland, Sabum Willy van de Mortel, 6°degree from Holland, 5 4° degrees from Belgium and one from Holland) and 73 coloured belts. Due to his work, our Master, Master Vanberghen, couldn't be present.

On Saturday, 79 persons participated at the course, on Sunday there were 76 participants. Besides the 83 members of ITF-Belgium (8 clubs were represented), there were participants from The Netherlands (15), Germany (5) and Ireland (1).

On Sunday, Mr. Reza Bahrehmand from Iran visited us. Because of visa problems, he arrived later, but he had a chat with representatives of ITF-Belgium and with Sabum Jedut. We received the inscriptions of 12 members of Algerian ITF, but their visa came too late.

The seminar was divided into 4 sessions: each session started with a spectacular warming-up : warming-up exercises on spot, with a partner, pretending to be an elephant, a dog, drunk, chasing games. On Saturday, Sabum Jerzy Jedut put emphasize was put on how to move fore - and backwards or to the side, punching techniques, avoiding, etc.

On Sunday, besides the punches, there were some kicking techniques on kicking shields, kicking while going backwards or to the side, a little bit of hosinsul, exercises to strenghten the muscles.

Every session also ended with some odd exercises : Chon-ji while jumping in the air or lying on the ground, pretending to be a volcano.

There were a lot of positive reactions, and we would like to invite Sabum Jedut to Belgium again soon. It really was a great weekend.
