ITF Taekwon-Do Finnish Championships

On weekend 26-27.02.2005 Vammala Taekwon-Do Club hosted ITF Taekwon-Do Finland National Championships. Competitors came from nearly every club to compete for the title of Finnish Champion.

As each year, Finnish Championships which in Finland is closed for black belts only was accompanied by Helmi-Cup, tournament for juniors and seniors color belts. Finals of the black belts categories were separated from whole event and presented for the spectators as 2-hour gala. 4th degree patterns finals, sparring, special techniques and power test in a condensed form were watched by completely filled spectators area.

Sponsors, politicians and Vammala city authorities came to support organization and see spectacular performance.

In the breaks between rounds spectators could watch hip-hop dancing group and the demonstration of 4th and 5th degree Finnish instructors. Competition, for the first time presented to big audience, got very good feedback from competitors, coaches, spectators and authorities.

 

Best competitor awards went to Ismo Mäkinen from Vammala- World Champion in 1st degree patterns from the last World Championships in Warsaw and Saara Koivisto World Championships medalist from Tampere.
