Report on Activities in Ireland

The First two months of 2005 have been very busy for the Irish National Taekwon-Do the NA for the ITF in Ireland. The new national organising committee (Board of Directors) convened for its first meeting to discuss plans for the coming year and review the status of ongoing projects.

Top of the agenda was the status on the International Instructor's course preparations which will be held in Dublin on the 29th of April. Preparations are progressing well, with the Hall organised and invitations sent out to the ITF community around the world. The Organising committee were able to secure a discounted rate with a leading hotel for all the participants attending the course. All that is left (until we get closer to the event) is to wait for participant application forms to come in.

Another key item for review was the forth coming National Championships, the 6th INTA open international championships, which will be held on March 5th. Over 300 competitors are expected for Ireland alone with confirmation from ITF- Belgium of their intent to participate.

In January Black belt certificates were presented by Master Brendan O'Toole, President of the INTA, to all those who passed their Black belt grading which was held in December., in all 32 people received certificates, ranging from 1st Degree to 5th Degree.

Preparations are also well underway for the European Championships with the Squad sessions for Irish team selection being held weekly. Selection of the teams was completed on the 5th of February.

On the 5th of February a Technical seminar was held in Dublin. The Seminar was conducted by Master O'Toole (VII degree) with Mr. Val Douglas (VI Degree) and Mr. Gerry Martin (VI Degree). 70 participants attended the course from clubs around the country and all agreed that the course was a great benefit particularly for Club instructor's, given this is one of the few times in the year where they get to train together and stay up to date with current ITF teachings.

Below is the Calendar of event for 2005.
