Annual Meeting ITF Belgium

ITF-Belgium is in fact the umbrella organisation of ITF-Flanders (Flanders is the northern region in Belgium, where people speak Flemish, Dutch) and ITF-Wallonie (Wallonie is the southern, French speaking part of our country). The president of this federation is Annick Van Driessche (living in Flanders), vice-president is Emmanuel Fantacci (living in Wallonie), and there are 2 members, one from each part of the country.

Sunday, January 16th, was a long day full with meetings in Steenokkerzeel (Brussels). First of all there was the annual meeting ITF-Flanders, which started at 10h. We didn't have to make very big decisions this year. The finances 2004 were controlled by the people present, and an estimate for 2005 was submitted. The assembly accepted a new school in Ghent. The president, vice-president and the secretary-treasurer each made a report of the past year. The board has to be elected every 2 years, and in 2005 there were elections.

The whole board was re-elected : Annick Van Driessche as president, Johan Van Hecke as vice-president and Master Vanberghen stays secretary-treasurer. There were some questions and proposals from the instructors and responsibles present, but most of these items were already on the agenda for the meeting ITF-Belgium, and we could finish the meeting at about 11.40. ITF-Wallonie had their annual meeting a week earlier.

After a short break, the meeting ITF-Belgium could start. Most instructors, the responsibles and coaches attended the meeting, just as some black belts, who want to open a club in 2005. After the report 2004 of the president, we evaluated 2004: the International Instructors Course, the Open Belgian, the team 2004 (EC and WC). We looked forward to the national competitions, and the competitions abroad. The coaches talked about the prospect for the EC and WC 2005. Some proposals on how to motivate new referees, the prospect of new schools that should be opened in 2005, etc. There were still a lot of questions and some ideas, so the meeting lasted until around 16h. Afterwards, there was still a meeting between the 3 coaches, the technical director, the president and the vice-president, to make the selection for the Belgian team attending the European Championships 2005 in Terracina.
