Finland Summer Camp conducted by Mr. Jerzy Jedut

During weekend 6-8.08.2004 over 50 participants from most of the Taekwon-Do Clubs from Finland took part in the ITF Taekwon-Do Finland Summer Camp conducted by Mr. Jerzy Jedut VI degree, General Secretary and member of Technical Committee of AETF. The camp took place in Northern city of Oulu with the big organizing help from the local "Oulun ITF Taekwon-Do ry".

During 3 days participants experienced 7 intense training sessions covering basic techniques, patterns, sparring and self-defense exercises.

I would like to express my thanks to Mr. Jedut for his efforts and excellent time we had during the Camp. Taekwon!

Below there are participants feedbacks expressing there opinions about trainings, SabumNim Jedut and his teaching methods.

Sabum Nim Jerzy Jedut had many new training methods, but the most important thing in my opinion was the idea of having fun. This was achieved mainly with crazy warming up exercises. No matter how tired we were from previous classes, his warming up exercises made us laugh and forget the tiredness. In this way we were able to get the best profit from classes and it upraised my motivation to a new level.

Sabumnim Jedut was an inspiring but also a very demanding instructor. He made all students give their best effort until the last minute of the training. Amazingly everybody found some extra power to kick and punch a little bit harder and jump higher even after thinking they couldn't move anymore. Jedut did not only teach the colour belts how to practise taekwon-do better, but at the same time he also taught the black belts how to teach and motivate their students. And everybody had so much fun by learning! Jedut also told us to always do our best in taekwon-do even if only one can be the winner. True, in a competition, but I think there were 50 winners in the do jang who overcame themselves.

I was keen to come participate to Sabumnim Jerzy Jeduts Summer training course in Oulu. This was the first time I had the change to meet Sabumnim Jedut. I had heard much about his teaching skills and great training and was enthusiastic to finally meet him.

During the three days we spend at Oulu, I learned a lot. Above all, Sabumnim Jedut gave me a great amount of self confidence. I became more aware, in various situations, of the potential that my body possesses. I realised that it's not the physical abilities that count the most but the spirit and willingness to train. As Sabumnim Jedut underlined, one should believe in himself and set his own goals to be able to improve his skills in the long run. I would like to keep that optimism in mid in all situations, especially in learning Taekwon-Do so that I wouldn't let the weakness of my mind to stop my body to reach it's limits.

I tried to grasp the essential of all training, but I have to admit that Sabumnim Jedut's training were also physically challenging for me. I regret a bit that I wasn't able to show my best to Sabumnim Jedut, because I had had one month's break in training. Anyway, after every training, I was fully surprised that I had been able to do so many things. Sabumnim Jedut was so clever that he managed to make us work hard even though we were tired. Thanks to the imaginative exercises and games we forgot our tiredness and went on and on.

Sabumnim Jedut's kindness, enthusiasm and patience impressed me! I had the impression that he really wanted us to learn and followed our improvements. In addition, Sabumnim Jedut's demanding attitude towards his students made us work better and maybe even attain some results during such a short time. Of course, I regret that the those three days went by so fast. In any case, I'm grateful that I had the change to be Sabumnim Jedut's student for a while. I hope that in the future I could take part in some Taekwon-Do training course in Poland. I'm sure I will do everything to meet this Great Teacher again! Sabumnim Jedut, I thank you so much!

What I liked most about the camp was that Sabumnim Jedut was such an inspiring teacher. He gave so much of himself and was so enthusiastic during every single practice that he coaxed us into forgetting our exhaustion and striving to the last drop to do our best. He not only told us of the things we could achieve, but also showed us countless great practices by which we might reach such goals, and, above all, made it feel possible. By the time the camp was over I was determined to reach a level that I had previously not even dared to consider. The international aspect of the camp was an added bonus.
